Prilosec - Much Better - 06-13-2009

While pregnant with my second child, I suffered severe heartburn. After delivery, it continued to be unbearable. I had to sit up at night to sleep.

I took Prilosec for a total of 9 months and am now heartburn free. It has made a tremendous difference in my sleep at night and the foods that I can eat. Luckily I didn't do any permanent damage to my esophogus with this problem.

Zyrtec - AR - 06-13-2009

I started taking Zyrtec when it was still prescription only. When it became over the counter and at a much less expensive price, I was jumping for joy.

Zyrtec is great for combating my particular allergies which centers around itchiness of my eyes, nose and sinuses. It is possible that it causes drowsiness but that isn't a problem for me as I take it before I go to bed. It takes the edge off of Dust mite issues from bedding, and lasts the rest of the next day.

Prozac - L McCord - 06-13-2009

I have never been officially diagnosed with any form of a clinical depression, however, I have suffered panic attacks and noticeable mood swings. After I began treatment for ulcerative colitis, my doctor felt the Prozac would help me manage the anxiety & stress so that it doesn't aggravate the digestive conditions. While I have felt very little side effects while taking Prozac, I don't particularly notice being overly "happy" either. It just seems to help keep me at an even keel. The only time I've noticed a significant change is when I quit taking it for a couple of weeks and then I began to realize the anxiety was ramping up a bit and my stomach was pretty torn up. Of course, the week I accidentally doubled my Prozac and cut my Prilosec in half because the capsules looked almost identical, I noticed a difference!

Asacol - L McCord - 06-13-2009

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 22 in 1998. At that time, I was prescribed sulfasalazine which worked for a few months, but even then, I was severely limited in my diet and physical activities. I eventually gave up the sulfasalazine and stopped seeing a doctor altogether. I suffered through the pains and did my best to control the symptoms with a very strict, very limited diet.

In early 2007, I was so weak and, as I later found out, malnourished that my boss at work actually insisted I go to the doctor, so I went to the local walk-in clinic thinking I'd caught the flu - AGAIN. I was severly dehydrated, couldn't keep anything down or in, was repulsed by food and walking from the lobby to the exam room was virtually exhausting. I was quickly introduced to my current doctor and have been seeing her faithfully ever since. She prescribed Asacol and in the last couple of years, I actually feel as if I'm living life - not just floating along! Without a doubt, Asacol not only makes life bearable, but allows me to have a life and enjoy everything that comes my way. I have no side effects either!

Neurontin - Michelle - 06-13-2009

I take this medication for treatment of RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) in my right foot. I began at a small dose and have gradually worked up to 900 mg three times per day. I have had positive results by taking this medication, but my condition is not completely under control yet. The medication helps to subside some of the pain the condition causes, but does not act like a pain killer.

The only negative side effect I have encountered is decreased memory. I find myself unable to think of common words or formulate sentences as I did two years ago. Aside from the slight memory problems, I have not seen any other side effects that would prevent me from taking this medication. I think it's a useful medication used in conjunction with other treatment options for RSD.

Rituxan - Kirkra - 06-13-2009

I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Over the past year, I had a flare up that effected my entire body, that would not respond to any of the medicines I tried (Enbrel, Humira, prednisone). The flare up caused me to cease work and ground my life to a hault. I could barely use my upper body and it was rather difficult to move around. After much discussion, I decided to try Rituxan. And with in a few days of the first infusion, I felt better. My joints were less swollen and I could move more freely. After a week of the second infusion, my body was getting back to normal. I regained the use of all my joints (upper and lower body) and began to sleep better, and feel more energy. It is now 4 months later, I am back to work and feel like the last year of pain and disability are a thing of the past. I feel like taking this medication was the best thing ever, since it got me back on track to a much better healthier life.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Anne - 06-13-2009

This is the first birth control pill I ever took. I liked that it didn't make me feel physically or emotionally different, which was a risk I would have taken with other brands. I recently switched to Seasonale, which I prefer because of the ability to sustain from my period. However, I highly recommend Ortho Tri-Cyclen for any first time pill takers. Its comforting to keep having a period once a month for the first year.

Vicodin - LUNAMARIE - 06-13-2009

I have been prescribed Vicodin for my chronic back pain. I take about 2-3 pills a day on the days when my back is giving me a lot of trouble, and it's been wonderfully helpful for me.
Vicodin is a drug which can be a huge help especially when over the counter drugs fail. I could take huge amounts of ibuprofen, aspirin, or alleve, and never get close to the therapeutic effect that vicodin gives me.
Made sure you eat something or drink milk with the Vicodin, because it can really cause stomach upset as a side effect. As soon as your pain begins, that's the best time to take it so that it has time to work. I think Vicodin has been a big help to me, and I will continue to use it.

Synthroid - Sam - 06-12-2009

When I was 11 years old, I had half of my thyroid removed. The doctors said I would be able to function without having to take medication. However, four years later, when I began High School, I became overwhelmed and tired. I was not percky and I wanted to sleep all the time. I went to the doctor and was then prescribed Synthroid. I take it every day and it helps me so much!

Yaz - Sarah - 06-12-2009

Yaz is a very good form of birth control. I started it 2 years ago when my doctors suspected I had PCOS - poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. I was wary about beginning birth control, as I had heard about the unpleasant side effects. I was very pleasantly surprised that I noticed very few negative side effects. I had short, very light periods to begin with, so on Yaz my period really only lasts a day or so. I used to get awful migraines in the few days before my period, and now I don't get any. One thing I have noticed, is cramping. I had never experienced cramps before in my life, until I started using Yaz. Other than that, I really would recommend anyone to try it out. I never had a huge issue with acne, I was just a typical teenager that would get breakouts once in a while. Now that I'm on Yaz, I nearly never get pimples. I find that if I have to double up on pills because of a missed dose, my moods tend to get wacky, but when I take is as directed I notice no difference in mood. The only other complaint I have is the cost. There is no generic out yet, and my copay is $40. That's pretty steep!

Wellbutrin - Debbie - 06-12-2009

My neurologist first prescribed Wellbutrin to counteract the side effects of Avonex injections for MS. I had tried other antidepressants and they all had horrible, intolerable side effects. I found that Wellbutrin had very few side effects and those almost completely went away within a couple of months. It still makes me a little drowsy which isn't a bad thing since I take it before bed.

Wellbutrin - Carol - 06-12-2009

Two years ago my health insurance stopped allowing Effexor as a choice so my physician and I discussed other possibilities. The first choice was Cymbalta and I tried that alone for a few months with less than satisfactory results for treating my depression. Next, we tried a combination of Wellbutrin and Cymbalta. Immediately, I felt an improvement. However, it took a few more months of adjusting to find the perfect combination which turned out to be 90 mg of Cymbalta and 75 mg of Wellbutrin daily.
The combination has restored my ability to work as a professional and has had a surprising additional effect: I no longer binge eat when I am extremely anxious or sad.

Cymbalta - Carol - 06-12-2009

A couple of years ago my health insurance plan stopped covering Effexor XR for my depression so my physician suggested Cymbalta. It took several months of adjusting dosage to find a fit. I use 90 mg of Cymbalta with 75 mg Welbutrin now. I find that this combination has produced much better results than any other antidepressant or combination of antidepressant medications that I have tried.
Using Cymbalta with Welbutrin finally ended my suicidal ideas for the first time in six years. I am able to work full time as a professional educator again. I have energy and my mind can focus and problem solve.
I would recommend trying Cymbalta if your physician suggests it. Please be aware that it may take a while to see results so please don't give up.

ZPAK - bradygarrett - 06-12-2009

Flexeril - Kelly - 06-12-2009

I treated a pulled back muscle from lifting flagstone.
The pain was excruciating & I couldn't stand or move.
I had to go to Urgent Care where they prescribed Flexeril.
When I followed the directions it took 2 doses to achieve a relaxed muscle so I could move again. In 2 more doses I was pain free.
I experienced some drowsiness from Flexeril.

Glucophage - Kiki - 06-12-2009

There are a few good points about this medication. The first is that it works well. Unfortunately, the dosage does have to be increased regularly. The second is that it does allow you to lose excess weight. There are is one problem that I have noted while taking this medication. The medication causes diarrhea and cramping. These symptoms are relieved by taking a digestive enzyme supplement. If this remedy does not work, talk to your doctor.

Advair Diskus - Cody Lange - 06-12-2009

This is the best asthma treatment I have ever used. Prior to taking Advair I would have to go to the ER several times per year. After Advair I haven't been once. I play ice hockey, lacross, and run cross country. Without Advair that wouldn't be possible. The only side effect was a raspy voice.

Celexa - Ocean Tiara - 06-12-2009

At first I loved Celexa because it made me sort of numb to the stress I was experiencing. It did not lift my depression however as my moods were still very down.
After around 6 months or so I developed the restless leg syndrome and had no idea what to do.
I went to the doctor and he prescribed something for that to no avail.
Finally he took me off of those and put me on prozac.
I would recommend Celexa as a good starting point for some people, but for me, it was only helpful at first.

Levaquin - Karen - 06-12-2009

I went to my general practitioner with a urinary tract infection. After performing a urine test and confirming my medical problem, my doctor prescribed Levaquin, a 500 mg oral tablet to be used for five days. It was prescribed because it is a fast-acting antibiotic.

After arriving home, I took one of the tablets. Within 15 minutes i began to notice a tightening in my throat. Within 20 minutes, my heart was racing and I was gasping for breath as my allergic reaction set-in. Upon notifying my doctor of my problem, he instructed me to take two Benadryl. My allergic reaction really scared me.

Lexapro - Ocean Tiara - 06-12-2009

I had been prescribed lexapro recently in exchange for prozac, as the prozac was making me too edgy and hyperactive.
I have found it to be extremely satisfactory in my mood elevation, but there is one problem that is bothering me greatly.
I am having great difficulty achieving orgasm, which is what I have read regarding one of the side effects.
Hopeful that this will subside, I will continue on it.
I am thinking of asking if I can lower the dose to 5 mg instead of the 10mg to see if this might correct or ease the problem of sexual dysfunction.
Overall, I am very impressed with the mood altering lift it has given me.
For the first time in years, I have hope.
I have taken all manner of other prescriptions, to no avail and with very bothersome side effects.
With a patient loving partner, I would recommend that you work through this side affect if it is one of yours.

ZPAK - Annemarie - 06-12-2009

I took this and it was effective. I found the instructions easy to follow. I had no side effects, and it cleared up a really nasty sinus infection.

I'd had other delivery methods of zithromax before and I had always experienced pain and other side effects, but the zpak seemed to be different. It seems strange when you stop taking the pills before you are better, but I think this may stop people from not taking all of their medicine.

Chantix - Buddy - 06-12-2009

This drug will definitely kill your tobacco cravings. You start with the .5 mg pill to acclimate your body and within a few days of changing to the 1 mg pill cravings just go away. I did have some vivid dreams but nothing bothersome. I had no adverse mood changes or suicidal thoughts. I did fail to stop smoking for good, the hand-mouth habit did me in. But cravings were not the problem
