Xanax - Rico - 06-04-2009

I started taking this for the anxiety and depression that I was suffering over the loss of my mother. I was warned of all its side affects including the possibility of dependency. With that said I manage my doses very carefully and have been able to enjoy a life free of anxiety, and can sleep much better at night. For me it has helped with the depression to a certain degree I still have to do my end. I have had mild side effect like drowsiness, fatigue and increase in appetite.

Wellbutrin - Todd - 06-04-2009

I have been using Wellbutrin for 2 years. When I first begin taking it, and I have been on and off it a couple of times, I tend to be restless at night if I do not take it first thing in the morning. Any other side effects for me seemed to fade over time as well. I live now without the sever depression and anxiety I felt before I used it.

Adderall - heather - 06-04-2009

The medication does provide help with attention deficit disorder, however it was impossible for me to sleep on this medication causing me to be delusional and out of it for the next day at school. It also completely canceled out any appetite i had before, making me nauseous when i did eat. I lost almost ten pounds on the medication. I concentrated on work in school but the concentration soon went down after only a month on the medication, where my parents and doctor simply upped my milligrams.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Holly - 06-04-2009

I started using the pill about 2 years ago. It was a very easy process when I went to my doctors' office. I went through my regular checkup and then talked about my options for birth control. Since I am afraid of needles, I didn't want the shot, and my friends had said that the patch was somewhat uncomfortable. So I tried ortho-tri cyclen lo. I was happy with the effectiveness and ease of use. I still am using it and wouldn't use any other form.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Paige - 06-04-2009

I too, like many other females, have tried many types of birth control. I started with the patch. It was terrible and ripped at my skin. Then I started the shot. The only good thing was not having my period, but they gave it to me in the stomach which just made me sick for days. So i decided to switch to the pill to see how well it worked. I was amazed at how easy and effective ortho-tri cyclen was. I have been using it for about a year and I dont plan on changing my form of birth control.

Amoxil - Viva - 06-04-2009

I recently took this medication because I had an infected and inflamed gallbladder (acute cholestycitis) that was later removed via surgery. If I had not taken this med, I would have been much sicker and the gallbladder might have burst, leaving me much worse off. Amoxicillin helped me to survive until I was able to withstand surgery. I had no side effects except perhaps mild diarrhea. It was worth it.

Paxil - purplelauri - 06-04-2009

I have been using this medication for years now. It has seemed to help my mood swings. Before I started taking them I was so angry all the time. Now I do have bad days, but for the most part my days are great. I do remember when I first started taking them if I was a little late taking them I would get a strange feeling coming over me but now since I have taken them for so long I can miss a day and not get that crawly feeling. I think this product has definitely helped my life.

Tylenol with Codeine - Frank - 06-04-2009

I suffer from migraines on a 1 to 5 times a week basis. Tylenol with codeine has changed my life. I use to struggle and cry in pain every time a migraine hit. Now I take some Tylenol with codeine and it's gone almost instantaneous.

I suggest for anyone out there with pain issues to use Tylenol with codeine. It has saved me the trouble of withstanding unbearable pain on many many occasions.

Betaseron - jim - 06-04-2009

Betaseron was the first injectable medication I was given when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Initially I thought the shots weren't too bad, but within about 2 cycles, I was very tired of hitting the same spot again and getting large compound hot-spots.

In addition to the hot-spots, which turned into bruises after a day or so, I also began to feel like I had the flu. At first it was just a bit of queasieness, but then the muscle soreness and joint pain set in (by about month 6). Eventually, I was feeling so poor almost all the time that I started taking the shot irregularly.

I quit taking Betaseron after about 18 months because I couldn't stand the hot bruises that hurt all over and the constant feeling of nausea and joint pain.

Prevacid - Rick B - 06-04-2009

I've taken Prevacid 30mg dose for over a year. It works great to control my heartburn and acid reflux. I am able to eat or drink whatever I choose without fear of feeling terrible in the next few hours.

This doesn't come without side effects though:
-Once you start, good luck stopping. Cold turkey does not work, you must wean off Prevacid.
-Gas and abdominal pressure is the worst I've ever experienced.
-Lack of hunger.
-Dry mouth and a white tongue also come with Prevacid.

Vicodin - Matt - 06-04-2009

I had to use this after going to the ER when I got a piece of metal in my eye after working on my car. By the time I took the medicine is was about 1 am and I was told by the ER doctor that it would knock me out. Well it did the exact opposite and made me hyper and I couldn't sleep.
I didn't feel any pain while i was on it but I think that's because I didn't have the metal in my eye anymore so I don't know how much it truly worked for me.

Other than the first night not being able to sleep I didn't have any other side effects from this medication It seems pretty safe and I didn't have any problems taking it. I didn't take it for long periods but it did seem to do it's job.

Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo - Keara - 06-04-2009

I have been on more then 5 different birth control brands. I started years ago with the patch and this made me sick to my stomach and ill all the time. I then tried a whole bunch of other pills, most of which gave me severe PMS and terrible cramps. I even tried the one pill that was supposed to be the miracle cure all PMS symptoms, but that had the opposite effect on me. Finally I was about to give up, until i found Ortho Tri-Cyclen-LO. It helps my severe cramps, and I barely notice my PMS symptoms. It regulates my period and has no side effects at all. the best part is it clears up my skin!

Valtrex - Happy - 06-04-2009

This has been a great prescription. I use it for coldsores that I used to ofen get on my mouth. I am supposed to use it on a a daily basis to help deter breakouts. When I do take it consistently as I should I never have any problems. However I forget to often and sometimes for a week. If I do get a coldsore I simply take 2 a day a my doctor directed and the sore clears up within 2 days usually. Coldsores on your faces can be embarassing and annoying. I have missed work before because of them. Valtrex has definately helped with these problems becuase I know they won't be there long. I have NEVER had any types of side effects do to taking this medication. Valtrex is only a supression drug but it seems to cure for me.

Aricept - criscris - 06-04-2009

My mother is unfortunately under my care due to Multiple Sclerosis and the harm it has done to her body. A few years ago she started forgetting who I was and who my sister was. She would ask me questions that she meant to ask my sister and not even know it was me. It was a very scary time for us, she was under the age of 50, and already losing her memory.
Shortly after this started happening, her doctor prescribed Aricept to her and after a few weeks of taking the medication, we have not had any memory problems. She does fantastic when we ask her about our childhood memories. This pill is given to her every single night and gives us the relief that she will remember us the next day. Thus far she had not had any side effects from this medication.

Topamax - Julie A - 06-04-2009

I was prescribed this medication to help control headaches. It did not help me at all. There were no noticable side effects. This medication was written for an off label use. I took it for headaches that were caused by PTC, not for migraines. This medication has scientific research behind it that shows it to be effective in reducing CSF pressure in the head, however it provided no results for me.

Paxil - bananaslugs - 06-04-2009

My psychiatrist prescribed Paxil for my anxiety and depression. The drug seemed to work initially, as I felt more energetic. Unfortunately, about two weeks after I started taking the drug, I "crashed" and became extremely depressed for several days. After several days I started to feel more like my normal self.

I am discontinuing the drug for several reasons. I feel that the drug has caused my moods to be more unstable. I have missed several doses by accident and I notice that on the days I miss my doses, I tend to get very paranoid and I cry at the drop of a hat. Although I haven't experienced any more "crashes" while taking the drug, my friends have pointed out that I occasionally appear to be to "grandiose" or "manic". In retrospect, Paroxetine was not the best choice for me but it might work for someone else.

Amoxil - Paddlegal - 06-03-2009

I was given a prescription for Amoxil after developing hand and foot psoriasis.

This was a stage treatment just in case the disease was being caused by an infection. The only side effects I experienced with Amoxil was some diarrhea and slight stomach upset if I failed to take it with food.

I also did not get a yeast infection or have bowel problems wherein the good bacteria in the bowel need rejuvenating. Amoxil worked well for me with a minimum of side effects. I will use this prescription again if needed.

Prozac - ang - 06-03-2009

I was prescribed Prozac when I was 20 years old as part of treatment for Major Depressive Disorder. I wasn't too keen on taking Prozac in the first place, but decided to give it a try at my doctor's urging. I definitely regret ever taking this medication, and I would not recommend Prozac to anyone else. I experienced severe side effects and no real or noticeable benefits. These side effects included headaches, nausea, anxiety, and frightening suicidal thoughts. Although I was clinically depressed, suicide was something I never contemplated and never really thought about until I began taking Prozac. Upon expressing my concerns to my doctor, she told me that these side effects were common and usually went away after a few months. Well, after 5 months the symptoms were still present and I would say I was more depressed on the Prozac than when I first began treatment. I told my doctor I no longer wanted to take the medication and she gradually weaned me off of it. After this Prozac debacle I have sworn off prescription anti-depressants, and I am very, very hesitant to even consider taking one again.

Opium Deodorized - Moyboy999 - 06-03-2009

Three years ago I was diagnosed with severe pan-ulcerative colitis and suffered immensely for 2 years. I was eventually forced to undergo 3 surgeries for a sub-total colectomy and the creation of a J-Pouch. The surgery went well, but due to some complications I still suffered from debilitating diarrhea. Nothing I took was able to help me until my doctor prescribed DTO (Deoderized Tincture of Opium). It's a medication that's extremely difficult to get because it's essentially pure opium and strictly controlled & monitored by the FDA & DEA. It is only manufactured by one pharmaceutical company, Marathon Pharmaceuticals and most smaller pharmacies don't carry it.

The drug is extremely potent and immediately gave me a new lease on life. I take a relatively high dose of it though, 20-25 drops 4 times a day. There really aren't many side effects beyond the fact that it will initially make you drowsy until your body gets used to it. It is supposedly also very highly addictive and you need to be weened off of it.

Ambien - ducks - 06-03-2009

While taking Lexapro, an antidepressant, I found it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep, so my doctor prescribed Ambien CR. It helped the first night I took it up until the last day I was on Lexapro. It didn't knock me out cold, but let me fall asleep feeling relaxed. I would highly recommend it to people with sleep problems caused by other medications.

Chantix - Pam - 06-03-2009

I took Chantix for a month or so and it did help me quit smoking. However, I experienced several side effects. They included vivid dreams, severe constipation, and depression. I would recommend it to others because if they don't experience the severity of the side effects that I did, it is a sure way to aid in smoking cessation.
