I have taken Synthroid for about 3/4 of my life (since I was 11 years old) for hereditary hypothyroidism. I have tried the generic form in the past & have found this product to be far superior. I take it first thing in the morning before breakfast & it works wonderfully. If you are a new user, it's important to have your thyroid level tested regularly, as there are a lot of things that can affect your dosage amount (ie: pregnancy/stress/illnesses, etc). I highly recommend this medication.

I went to the doctor for heart palpitations. After a thorough exam and several blood tests the results showed early signs of hypothyroidism. The endocrinologist decided it was best to start taking thyroid medication right away before any other symptoms appeared.

I have been on this medication for about a year now and it seems to be working great. Within a few months my thyroid levels have returned to normal and everything looks great. The only drawback is that this a a daily medication for life and must be taken in the morning an hour before you eat. So it may require a bit of a change in your daily routine.

I was diagnosed with low thyroid activity and prescribed Thyroxine at the beginning, which brought my TSH numbers up to normal. It did help me lose some much needed weight, improved my sleep patterns and gave me more energy. I did not even realize I had hypothyroidism until I went for a routine check up. I guess my numbers really changed within the past year. I moved to a new city and had to find a new doctor, and during my last check up, she changed my medication. I am no longer on Thyroxine, but my new medication is working just as well. I had no problems taking this and no side effects. It is an easy med to take.

I take this every day to treat my hypothyroidism. I did not suffer extreme symptoms like some have reported before I was diagnosed, but I do notice if I go off the medicine for a while that my energy levels decrease. It is important to have your doctor recheck your hormone levels regularly when taking this medication to make sure that your dosage is correct.

I have felt lethargic, lazy and depressed for years. I thought I was just... lethargic and lazy. When my doctor told me I was hypothyroid, and put me on this medicine I was worried. I didn't want to have to take a pill every day of my life, I didn't really believe it would do me any good and when I researched hypothyroidism online I read all sorts of horror stories about people who wanted some other medicine, but doctors wouldn't let them have it.

After just a couple of weeks, though, I felt a change. I haven't noticed any bad side-effects, but I have lost 14lbs in the 8 weeks I've been taking it, and I couldn't lose weight to save my life before. My doctor says it's replacing what's missing, so that my metabolism can function again. I have a long way to go, but I'm starting to feel motivated again, my skin isn't so dry anymore, either. I have a long way to go, but I don't think I'd be able to even contemplate it without being on this medicine.

When I was 17 years old i began to feel very weak and out of it all the time. I was sleeping all the time and not wanting to be very active at all. I passed out one day at school, and as a result i went in had some blood tests done. It turns out that I had a thyroid disorder(hypothyriodism). About a year later my thyroid was completly taken out. They did this by radiating the thyroid. You can not live with out your thyroid so i began taking synthroid, and will have to continue taking it for the rest of my life! This medicine really saved my life. The only downside is the medicine did make me gain some weight.

I was diagnosed with Papillary thyroid cancer in December of 2008. I had a total thyroidectomy in January of 2009. Follow up treatment with I-131 in March and put on .75 mg or Synthroid after that. I am feeling good. It took a while for the Synthroid to kick in after having the radio active iodine. I am still a little tired but not much. Synthroid with have to be increased or decreased eventually. I have had no side effects from the Synthroid.

A few years ago I noticed that I was feeling extremely tired and gaining weight. I couldn't get enough rest and constantly felt tired. My Doctor ran blood test and found that my tyroid was almost non existent. He prescribed Synthroid for me what a difference.

I began feeling better after a few weeks and now I am on the right road. I now have energy, I feel great and most importantly I have gained my life back. I can't imanage life without my medication and I wouldn't want to go without this medication for a day. The great thing with this medication was the fact that I have not experienced any side effects.

When I was 11 years old, I had half of my thyroid removed. The doctors said I would be able to function without having to take medication. However, four years later, when I began High School, I became overwhelmed and tired. I was not percky and I wanted to sleep all the time. I went to the doctor and was then prescribed Synthroid. I take it every day and it helps me so much!

During my second term of college I began feeling really run down all the time. I was so tired I didn't want to hang out with my friends, and even walking to class seemed like too much effort. To make matters worse, my weight increased and my hair and nails were brittle and breaking easily. Not feeling or looking like myself any more got me to seek medical treatment.
My doctor diagnosed me with a hypo active thyroid and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I began taking Synthroid right away, and within a couple months the difference was significant. Now I've been on it for years, and I can't imagine life without it. I'm the old me again- I have energy and feel great!
