Lovenox - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

My regular blood thinner is Coumadin, but I have problems with my INR going up and down pretty fast. When I drop below 2.0, I have to use Lovenox until my numbers get above 2.0 which may be 1 or 2 days, or as much as a week.

The actual shots in your stomach aren’t as painful as it sounds, but if you rub the area you can get a large bruise. If you don’t inject very deep, the medicine will pool under the skin and form a huge bruise, so you have to insert the needle completely in to avoid bruising.

Celexa - Ana - 06-30-2009

I took Celexa for mild depression in my early 20s. The dosage had to be changed three times, including once because it gave a permanent migraine!! The Celexa was enough of an anti-depressant to make me feel emotion again, but not enough to help me deal with those emotions of the extreme anxiety I was feeling as well. I did experience some sexually related side-effects.

Coumadin - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

I have a blood disorder that causes clotting. I have been on Coumadin for about 3 years. My INR is all over the chart so I have to test weekly.

Not sure why my numbers won’t stabilize, but the alternative is Lovenox shots which are painful and expensive. I do have some problems with bruising and occasional bleeding due to a high INR.

Effexor - outspoken1 - 06-30-2009

After trying numerous other anti-depressants, my doctor started me of Effexor XR. I started with a fairly low dose to keep side effects to a minimum, eventually increasing to 300mgs/day. This medication has been extremely helpful in fighting my depression and I experienced results within 2 months of starting it. The only real bothersome issue I have is if I miss a dose, before 24 hrs has passed I will begin experiencing terrible withdrawal symptoms. Emotional and physical symptoms. The emotional are somewhat like PMS times 50. The physical are rather hard to explain. It is almost like I am receiving a serious of electric shocks that increase in intensity and frequency the longer I go between doses. I have corrected this by making sure I don't run out and setting up a system where I almost never miss a dose. I will have to be slowly weaned off of Effexor when/if I stop taking it however.

I love the convenience of only having to take an antibiotic 5 days, but it staying in my system for 10 to ensure the infection is completely cleared up. Relief from symptoms is fast and I have always obtained a complete eradication of the bacterial infection within the given treatment time. I have never experienced any ill effects from it's usage. Wonderful product!

Flonase - Ana - 06-30-2009

I developed allergies in my mid-20s. After much testing, I was prescribed Flonase 2x daily. It has completely changed my life. I had debilitating tearing/itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, etc. Now I rarely have these problems. And the scent of Flonase is very nice, not like medicine at all.

I haven't experienced any side-effects from this medication.

Prozac - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

I have depression due to chronic pain. I’ve been on other drugs that only lasted a few months then I would have to change. Prozac worked well for about 18 months, and then I noticed depression creeping in.

My doctor added Remeron and the depression left. I’ve tried leaving Prozac off, but I felt the depression starting back again, so it takes both drugs to control it.

Chantix - outspoken1 - 06-30-2009

I had been a smoker for most of my adult life and had tried numerous other methods to quit smoking with no success. Thanks in part to Chantix I have not had a cigarette in 13 months. Used with the online program I found this medication to be the best thing for me. After the first week if I stumbled and tried a cigarette, the effect of blocking the nicotine receptors was felt immediately. All I got from the cigarette was a horrible taste in my mouth and would put it out before I was halfway through. Although I didn't suffer from vivid dreams or some of the other side effects, I did have issues with nausea. I learned to take the pill mid-meal, instead of immediately before or after and that helped a lot. I also had a few hot flashes and some dizziness, but that was always in combination with the nausea.

Lorcet - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

I have chronic pain and use a pain clinic. I use fentanyl patches and for break-through pain I take Lorcet 10-650 up to 3 times daily as needed. This has given me my life back from the unbearable pain I went through prior to starting pain management.

When I first started using this, I sometimes had a little upset stomach, but I learned not to take it on an empty stomach. Due to my long term use, I don’t have any grogginess or other problems. It simply makes the pain bearable.

Nexium - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

I suffered from reflux and indigestion for years. Rolaids and Tums usually wouldn't give any relief, but I ate them constantly. I tried other prescription drugs with varying relief. My reflux was so bad I hadn’t been able to even drink orange juice for years.

About one week after starting Nexium, my reflux and indigestion was gone. I haven’t taken a Rolaid in years.

Imitrex - Andrea - 06-30-2009

Imitrex helped me immensely at first, but always left me very fatigued and I would have nausea and vomiting. BUT, the severe, blinding migraine would be gone. I would get about 5-6 migraines a month and so after awhile, even though it was working for the pain, I could not longer handle the other symptoms. The last time I took it, I took it to head off a migraine at the first onset of aura. After vomiting several times, I fell asleep on the bathroom floor and laid there for 6 hours! I use another medication now.

Lunesta - Bubluck - 06-30-2009

I had used Ambian for a long time, but it finally quit working. Lunesta takes about 30 – 45 minutes to work and gives me about 6 hours sleep. I only use it once or twice a week. The biggest problem is the metallic taste that lingers usually until the next night, but I haven’t had any other side effects.

Paxil - Andrea - 06-30-2009

It recommended to try Paxil for my panic and anxiety disorder and so I did. I knew it would take a few weeks for it to show any signs of helping but even in the first couple of days I could feel the effect. I felt like a zombie. Usually a fun loving person, I found myself looking around at my family as a spectator, rather than a participant and not only losing the ability to laugh but also to feel anything, anger, sadness, etc. One week into using Paxil, I was awakened at 4am on the dot, like a bell went off and I was in the throws of the worse panic attack ever. From 4 to 5:30am I paced the floor having terrible thoughts of death and dying and some as severe as an actual suicidal thought. At 5:30am I was able to calm myself to the degree that I could lay down but my mind still raced. I finally fell asleep. About 3 hours later I awoke and still had the panic feelings but not as bad, called doctor to report he told me to cease using it. It was scary.

Vicodin - Susan - 06-30-2009

This drug was given to me after surgery for breast removal due to cancer. I was sent home with it from the hospital. After the first day I started to develop symptoms that I knew were not normal. My face and neck turned bright red and looked rashy. My lips swelled and were numb. I was sick to my stomach. It was worse than the surgery and know that I can never take this medication.

Prevacid - Susan - 06-30-2009

I started taking this drug in 1999 after I had cancer surgery. I developed a very bad pain under my right breastbone and ended up going to the emergency room. They discovered I had a bacterial ulcer and put me on a drug therapy of three different medicines. Two of them were to be taken for ten days and the third one, Prevacid, I have been taking ever since. It controls the acid in my stomach so that the ulcer does not return and my heartburn is gone. I have not had one side effect from this drug and it has definetly changed my life.

NuvaRing - alice88 - 06-30-2009

After over 10 yrs of trying different birth control pills, I found the Nuvaring. I don't experience any of the side effects I experienced on the pills (night sweats, hot flashes, depression, weight gain, and nausea).
I enjoy only having to think about my birth control when I remove the ring after 3 weeks and replace the ring a week later. I have also enjoyed much lighter, shorter periods and a great reduction in cramping.

Flonase - Andrea - 06-30-2009

I never had allergies then all of a sudden I started to have symptoms like stuffy nose, vertigo spells, ear popping, ear ringing. My doctor prescribed Flonase and it changed my life. At first I wasn't sure it was working but after much determination to find help, I continued on and after about two weeks, I could breathe easier, my ear symptoms cleared up, I could sleep and most importantly, I could relax. The vertigo had been the scariest symptom and started to cause panic attacks for me but after using the Flonase, that cleared up. I had no side effects. However, when you first use it, sometimes it can cause a burning in the nose and sometimes I did feel a very minor throat irritation but that cleared up after the initial 2 week period.

Viagra - Marc - 06-30-2009

The pill is expensive which most insurances will not pay for. But it works (the potency is shortlived so sex has to be planned)
