I have anxiety and get stressed out easily.This medication is vital to my everyday living. If I miss a dose I definitely realize it soon after because my anxiety symptoms are out of control.
I really don't experience any terrible side effects besides feeling a little drowsy. Once you find the correct dosage this can be manageable.This medication has given me my life back and without it I would probably be in an institution. I guess another side effect would be dependency but the benefits are worth it to me.

I used Xanax in the past to stop an alcoholic binge. Instead of needing alcohol in the morning to stop shaking, I took a Xanax. That way I could go to work instead of starting the drinking pattern all over. That was abuse of the drug, but it worked. Eventually I needed to be in alcohol treatment, and after I was, I had no need for Xanax until five years later.
What happened then was a siege of terror by a psychopathic neighbor which gave me panic attacks for months afterward. A prescribed 0.5 mg Xanax helps me take the edge off when that happens, though it does make me sleepy if I take it during the day.

I took this on a description by my doctor as I had severe anxiety and depression because of failing in my MS exams. I had no other option by taking this. The side effects weren't so bad as I only felt dizziness in the morning but had a good sleep after its intake.

I am a soldier in the united states army and was involved in more than my share of IED's. After deployment I began having periods with extreme difficulty breathing and a few other symptoms which later was diagnosed as mild ptsd as well as panic disorder.
This was beginning to influence my every day life and so I began seeing a doctor who prescirbed me alprazolam (xanax). Immediately I felt relief just knowing that I had something to help. When I feel like a "panic attack" is getting close or if I actually begin having one, these little things save my life it feels like. I would highly recommend this to any fellow soldier or any person who suffers from the same symptoms I had/have. It WILL help.

I have been so lucky to find this medication. It has been perscribed to help with GAD and finally there is something that mean I can breathe! I hear it can be habit forming but under supervised care I have no concerns.

Take this medication for anxiety issues. It is a pill that slows down the nervous system for me so I am not worrying about everything. It makes me drowsiness and able to cope with life when things are out of control. No side effects other than sleepiness.

I always had horrible anxiety to the point where I could barley hang out with my friends. When I was given this I thought oh great another pill that won't work. Anytime I started feeling "antsy" I would take one. At first I didn't think it was helping. Then I noticed that I was inviting my friends out more and laughing alot more that I did. I don't feel uncomfortable around people anymore. Thats the way things should be.

I have been taking this medication for over ten years for anxiety. Combined with an anti-depressant I can function normally again. The only time I take it is when I can't seem to calm down and relax. My prescription is as needed, and if you don't abuse it then you won't get addicted to it. It does cause me to want to eat after it wears off. Overall I believe it's a good medication for someone who needs it and can manage their doses.

This medicine works very well. but it tends to give me nausea really bad sometimes that i have to lay down but other than that works really good

This medication needs a longer time to take affect.

I started taking this for the anxiety and depression that I was suffering over the loss of my mother. I was warned of all its side affects including the possibility of dependency. With that said I manage my doses very carefully and have been able to enjoy a life free of anxiety, and can sleep much better at night. For me it has helped with the depression to a certain degree I still have to do my end. I have had mild side effect like drowsiness, fatigue and increase in appetite.
