Benicar - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

My 14 year old son lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time. I've heard that this is a sign of diabetes so I took him to the doctor to see if he was alright. The doctor found that type 2 diabetes. They also found that he had high levels of blood pressure. He was put on Beniar and ever since it's kept his blood pressure levels under check.

Adderall - KTinaY - 07-01-2009

My autistic son took this medication for behavior problems in school. He was also impulsive so his development pediatrician prescribed this medication. He started taken it and at first he had some sleepiness. That quickly went away. The doctor had warned us that he could lose his appetite but he never had that problem.
In the end we ended up having to switch him to another type of medication because it seemed that this medication stopped working.
Overall, I think this was a good medication without a lot of side effects for my son.

Topamax - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

My 14 year old son has problems with migraines. I was suggested by a friend to give him Topamax. The results were poor, it lacked the power to stop the pain that he had. I suggest tylenol or just about any other migraine medicine over Topamax.

Celebrex - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

About 4 years ago my mother started to develop arthritis like symptoms. I took her to the doctor and he suggested she use Celebrex. I swung by the pharmacy and she started using the medicine that night. She has used it ever since. So far it's fixed her problem and she's had no complaints.

Prilosec - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

Sometimes when I eat my favorie food, Spanish food, I get bad heart burn from spicy things I eat. I use to just try to sleep with the pain, but that did not get far. I went to my local pharmacy and found Prilosec, I took it and it fixed my heart burn problems allowing me to sleep peacefully. If anyone else out there has heartburn problems I suggest Prilosec.

Tylenol with Codeine #2 - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I have used tylenol with codeine a couple of times (once for a broken bone) and have found it to be moderately effective. I don't recall that it was ever completely effective at getting rid of the pain, though it did lessen it. It makes me tired, which when you're in pain, isn't a bad thing. I have found that it's sometimes more effective than other times, and that ibuprofen can work much better.

Tylenol with Codeine - Kritikos - 07-01-2009

I broke my right pinky finger recently. After I got a brace put on it hurt very badly. I started to use Tylenol with Codeine, it allieviated the pain, but at first it started to make me feel dizzy a bit. After the first few times I used it, the dizziness went away and it just caused the pain to go away. For anyone in the market for pain medicine use Tylenol with Codeine.

All Day Allergy Children's - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

Recently my daughter started to develop allergies during the spring time from all the pollen in the air. I took her to our doctor and he suggested I put her on All Day Allergy Children's. Ever since she started using the medicine she's never had an issue with allergies again. This medicine came in handy for the allieving of allergies. I reccomend anyone with kids that have allergies to use this problem.

Percocet - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I have used Percocet three times and have had a very different experience each time. I first took it after I broke my wrist. It made me dizzy and kept me from sleeping well. It also didn't entirely get rid of the pain. The second time was after a medical procedure that caused severe pain. It worked like a dream and made me feel wonderful. The third time was right after surgery. It was effective, but made me nauseous so I had to stop taking it. I have no idea what accounts for the difference.

Prozac - Jlynn - 07-01-2009

I use to be a very depressed person. I often had thoughts of suicide almost daily. I went to my doctor and he sent to a psychiatrist that put me on Prozac. I took the Prozac and it helped greatly. I continued use of the product with regular visits to the psychiatrist until I no longer had depression problems any more. I thank God every day for letting me find Prozac.

Humalog - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I'm a type 1 diabetic and started using Humalog when I started using an insulin pump nine years ago (after many years of injections with other insulins). It has made a huge difference in managing blood sugar levels. Unlike other insulins, Humalog is extremely fast-acting. You can take tiny doses at a time and it works almost immediately. That allows you to fine-tune your blood sugar levels in ways that aren't possible with other insulins. I'm only familiar with how it works with the pump, but I highly recommend Humalog and pumping to other type 1's, particularly those who have trouble with blood sugar control or just want more flexibility in their day.

Paxil - Wendy - 07-01-2009

I was prescribed Paxil for severe anxiety problems I was experiencing. Within about a week I began to feel better and within three weeks the anxiety was gone completely. Unfortunately the paxil left me feeling drained. I experienced extreme fatigue and barely had the energy to get moving in the morning. For a couple of years I dealt with this as best I could, and felt that it was a reasonable trade off to not have to deal with the anxiety. Several years ago I was prescribed Wellbutrin to take along with the Paxil to curb the side effects. It has worked wonders for me! Now I take the Paxil with no negative side effects!

Plavix - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I was put on Plavix after a heart attack and have been on it for six years. (Many people don't stay on it so long, but I am very young.) Its purpose is to keep blood from clotting and it seems to be doing the trick. I can tell because I bruise more easily than before. Even small bumps cause bruising, so sometimes I have bruises and I don't even remember how I got them. Also, cuts take longer to stop bleeding. But, as far as I know, these side effects are not dangerous, as long as you inform doctors before you have surgery or other procedures with potential for bleeding that you take Plavix.

Wellbutrin - Wendy - 07-01-2009

I was prescribed Wellbutrin to combat the side effects of Paxil (which made me tired and killed my sex drive). Not only did Wellbutrin give me lots of energy, but it also curbed my appetite and helped me lose weight. In addition, my mood swings have leveled off quite a bit. I feel more confident on the Wellbutrin. Unlike Paxil, if I miss a dose I barely notice it. I initially was on 100 mg of Paxil, but found that 150 mg was much more therapeutic for me. I have not experienced any negative side effects.

Tenormin - Turklet - 07-01-2009

After a heart attack, I was put on Toprol 40 mg, another beta blocker. I was exhausted all the time, and was told by a nurse that it was probably because of the Toprol. I spoke to my doctor, and he switched me to Atenolol 25 mg. That switch made a very big positive difference in my energy level. I'm still a little more tired than I should be, but it's far better than on it was on Toprol 40 mg. I didn't have high blood pressure, but the drug seems to be doing whatever it's supposed to.

Lipitor - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I was put on a statin following a heart attack. I did not have high cholesterol, but statins serve other purposes too. I was first put on Zocor but requested a change to Lipitor so I can take it earlier in the evening than Zocor. My cholesterol levels are still fine, but the real benefit seems to be a marked lowering in CRP, which is another risk factor for heart attacks. Over time, my CRP level dropped dramatically, presumably lowering the risk of another cardiac event. (There is currently controversy around the importance of CRP, but for various reasons, I believe the CRP-lowering effect of Lipitor to be extremely important.)

Toprol-XL - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I was put on Toprol 40 mg following a heart attack. I did not have high blood pressure, but beta blockers are appropriate anyway. The problem I had with this medication (at this dose) was I was exhausted all the time. It really knocked me out. When a nurse found out what I was taking and how much, she said no wonder I was so tired, and recommended that I talk to my doctor about a lower dose. He switched me to Atenolol 25 mg, and I felt better. I'm not sure why he switched brands as well as dose, but the atenolol is MUCH less expensive.

Amoxil - meggers077 - 07-01-2009

I have had chronic bronchitis every year since I was about five years old. I am now twenty-six. The only anti-biotic I have ever taken for it has been amixicillin. I actually have never even tried any other one before. This drug has just worked wonders on my bronchitis. It gives me comfort to know that everytime I get sick like this I am not going to suffer any longer than I need to. I owe all of this to amoxicillin. It has pretty much been like a savior to me. I don't have to take much time off of work or school, which is a huge accomplishment for me. Thank You Amoxicillin.

Darvocet - meggers077 - 07-01-2009

I started taking Darvocet for my chronic backpain when I was first being treated for it 4 years ago. It was the first thing my doctor tried me on for pain. I had never really taken many pain relievers before this. So, I started taking them as prescribed every four to six hours as needed. After about a week and a half, my stomch started getting extremely upset. I was getting constipated, and I could barely ever have a bowel movement. As for the pain relief aspect, it didn't even touch the pain I was experiencing. I was soooo disappointed. Of course, because I was so young my Dr. wouldn't start me on anything stronger. He just let me agonize in pain. Needless to say I stopped taking the Darvocet and stopped seeing that Dr. as well.

Lamictal - okn0tok - 07-01-2009

I began taking Lamictal after going without medication for my Bi-polar and Borderline Personality Disorders for a few years. I had not really noticed that I needed it until I got into a relationship and started behaving erratically.
After taking just the initial low doses of 25 mg I found that I was managing all my thoughts and reactions better. I have been on the 200mg dosage for about 6 months now and I love it. I have no side effects from it at all.

Wellbutrin XL - Turklet - 07-01-2009

I started on Wellbutrin to counteract the side effects of celexa, mainly fatigue and an overall lack of energy. Wellbutrin (and now the generic, bupropion) has worked well for that purpose. I have more energy and feel less muted. I can't tell if it's acting as a mood enhancer, because the celexa was taking care of the depression, but it has definitely made a positive difference in how I function.

Lunesta - meggers077 - 07-01-2009

I was an insomniac for almost three years from when I was 18 to 21. I thought I had finally gotten it under control at the age of 24. However, suddenly I was having trouble sleeping again. I had been on drugs such as Lunesta before, and they had worked good for the most part in the past. However, this time I had taken it for a few days with absolutely no help at all. Maybe I would get an hour or two of uninterrupted sleep if I was lucky. I do not know why it was not working for me, but my Dr. told me to give it another shot. I told him to stick it and found myself a new doctor who could really help me. He finally prescribed the stronger dosage which seemed to help better. Insomnia is the worst thing I have experienced in my life.I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Seroquel - okn0tok - 07-01-2009

I was prescribed Seroquel after being diagnosed with Bi-polar and Borderline Personality Disorders by my physician.
I will never forget how hard it hit me the first time I took it. Approximately 15 minutes after taking it I was in my kitchen cleaning up and had stood up on a chair to put something away. The entire room just tilted and I fell onto the floor. I was so incapable of moving I had to crawl to my room.

Over time the side effects were not as severe but would make me groggy and I felt mental foggy and tired. I also noticed that I often had severe mood swings and tantrums on this drug. I remember that I once became so mad I was jumping up and down and screaming and crying like a toddler over something trivial. I would never take this drug again.
