This was added to an antidepressant I was already taking, after I had a very bad episode. The NP who prescribed it said that new research showed this works as a catalyst with antidepressants, making them work better.

In my case, I went from being actively suicidal to giggling in my sleep within a week (the dream didn't seem quite as funny when I was fully awake, but it was hilarious while asleep). Things got better, even on a relatively low dose.

I had no side effects that I know of, and look forward to using this drug for a long time.

Don't ever let a quack misdiagnose you and give you this dangerous garbage! Question everything, and if the only information a doctor gives you is 'because it's for your own good' run the other way.
I had this junk added to my anti-depressant because the anti-depressant didn't work. Me: 'Why don't we change the anti-depressant?' Dr: 'It's not for you to question, if you don't take it I'll put non-compliance in your file.'
This stuff lowers your blood pressure. I fainted, fell through a particle board bookcase, and chipped a vertebrae in my neck. Two years later my neck collapsed. I was told it was from a previous injury of some sort. Hmmm wonder what that could have been?
Shortly after the bookcase incident, and shortly before I told Bruce M. Pfohl, MD University of Iowa Psychiatry Clinic to shove it, I looked the stuff up and the most glaring warning in bold letters was 'do not prescribe to anyone prone to low blood pressure'.
Since my blood pressure hovers around 80/65 I think I might fit in that category. And, since my blood pressure was taken right before The University of Iowa Psychiatry Clinic gave it to me (the results being around 80/65) I can only surmise that The University of Iowa Psychiatric Clinic ignores warnings on medications. Furthermore, since this wasn't the first time with one of their nasty drugs, I can probably say they are guilty of gross negligence/malpractice.
Thank you so much Dr. Bruce M. Pfohl, that cervical fusion really changed my life, and not for the better.

I use Risperdal for auditory hallucinations. It works great, and I have no symptoms after taking the drug. I have been taking it for years, and I find that I am able to take a low dose and still be free of the hallucinations. I get no side effects from it. I take anywhere from 1 mg - 2mg. Any more then that is too much for me, but I feel great so this medication is amazing! I highly recommend it to anyone who has auditory hallucinations. It is also great for sleep. I am able to sleep much deeper when I take this medicine.
