I have severe acid reflux that sometimes gets acid into my sinus cavity. I was put on this before the severity of my reflux was discorvered. I have seen an improvment but im still not where i would like to be. I am going back to the doctor to see about a larger dose or alternate medication.

I was detected with GERD and tried Protonix for 6 months and did not have any noticeable improvements to my symptoms. My doctor then changed me to another prescription that worked better for me. I did not notice any side effects while taking it.

After suffering for several years with increasing pain from the heartburn, I finally went to the doctor who said it was GERD and prescribed protonix. All I can say is WOW! The very first day that I took it, all my pain was gone! If I had known that something this good was around, I would have gone to the doctor sooner. I never suffered from any side effects unless you count relief as one! Due to insurance changes, I no longer take protonix, but would gladly go back to it if I could.

After years of suffering from heart burn, taking antacids and other over the counter medications my doctor suggested Protonix as a logical way to control my stomach acid and stop my GERD symptoms. One pill each morning worked like a charm. I could eat anything especially my favorites like pizza and Mexican food with no side effects. This medication changed my life, allowing me to enjoy dining out and still being able to sleep at night. I have had no side effects and no issues when combined with other medication. I am sold on this product.

Unfortunately, I was the "1 in a million" side effect person, I ended up with type II Diabetes (due to a now elevated A1C). It was never even suggested by my doctor that this drug had a side effect like this. Due to the Type II Diabetes, I now am forced to take multiple other medications and suffer from other side effects as well. I should have just handled the heart burn without consulting a doctor.
