My husband had a stroke at age 54. He was hospitalized and during the testing, he was told that he had had a heart attack sometime before this stroke. He was also told that he had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. He was prescribed Crestor and remained on this drug for one year. He remained under a doctor's care during this time and was able to lower his blood pressure and cholesterol level. While the results were satisfactory, he experienced some problems with taking this statin. His side-effects included vertigo, but it was inconclusive as to which drug that he was taking actually caused the repeated dizzy spells. After the year, he had no trouble or side effects when he stopped taking the Crestor.
