I've had about three or four urinary tract infections over the past 20 years and each time I was prescribed this drug. The first few times I had UTI's, I avoided going to the doctor and hoped it would clear up by itself (at the time, I didn't know it was an infection: I was just young and stupid.) But when I finally went to the doctor and they prescribed this pill, it worked almost immediately in alleviating the uncomfortable symptoms of the UTI. I had no side effects except R-E-L-I-E-F. It is a simple pill that gets rid of the UTI symptoms almost immediately and you begin to feel human again.

Be aware that Bactrim is a sulfa drug. Many people have allergic reactions to drugs in this class.
My doctor prescribed a short course of Bactrim treat a bladder infection. Shortly after starting to use this medication, I noticed small pink blotches on my hands. I looked closer and noticed that I had blotches all over my arms and the rest of my body. They did not itch or hurt.
I called my doctor and asked him about this. He told me that it was probably an allergic reaction to the Bactrim. He advised me to stop taking Bactrim immediately and to not take Sulfa drugs in the future.

I have taken Bactrim several times for urinary tract infections. It is inexpensive, has always been effective, and has had no side effects. Since it is only tewice a day, I don't have to take it to work or remember a mid-day dose.

I had a bladder infection about 2 months ago, and the doctor prescribed me Bactrim- he gave me 2 rounds of it, one for the current infection and one in case I got another one. I took it twice a day for 3 days. When I finished the course, I still had the bladder infection for another 2-3 days before my symptoms went away.
Last week, I got what I thought was another bladder infection, much worse than the previous one. I tried the second round of bactrim, but again the symptoms didn't go away, so I returned to the doctor (a different one this time). He said it appeared that this "new" bladder infection was actually the same one from before, so basically the bactrim did not treat it at all either time I took it. I'm dissapointed that I wasted my time and money on the bactrim which didn't even work.

My husband has taken this drug for the treatment of urinary tract infection and it worked great, a week after taking it he returned for another laboratory test and the results was great , the amount of infection decreased so much
It is well tolerated and my husband didn`t suffer any side effects, its good antibiotic for the treatment of urinary tract infection

I guess this medication is ok, seeing as how I'm allergic to pennicylin and this is practically the only anti-biotic I am ever prescribed. It ususally does the job.

Bactrim worked fast and well to cure a very painful urinary tract infection. The size of the pill is the only problem I had with this drug. It was quite hard to swallow.

I have taken this medication twice, both times for a urinary tract infection. I was extremely pleased with it. The first time it worked within approximately four hours, the second time (when I caught the infection earlier) results were almost immediate.
I had very few side effects. The first time I felt a little queasy for a day or so and noticed a lack of appetite. (Unfortunately this did not last long enough to lose even a pound or two.)
If my results are typical, this is an excellent drug and very efficient.
